Manifesto for a Conscious Artificial Intelligence
Atenek is born from the conviction that artificial intelligence must be a tool at the service of people and territories, not a technology that devours resources without measuring their cost. With this act the founding partners publicly declare the principles that guide every project, every automation and every technical decision of the company.
AI is powerful. That is why clarity on how we use it is needed.
The artificial intelligence market is full of promises. Every week a new tool is born, every month a new vendor claims to have solved something that was not yet broken.
In this context, we believe that those who build AI systems have a specific responsibility: to state clearly what they will do and what they will never do, with their clients, with the data entrusted to them and with the people who use those systems every day.
This manifesto is not a communication exercise. It is a public act signed by the founding partners. Every principle you find here is binding for every project that Atenek accepts, without exceptions and without flexibility clauses.
Five principles. No exceptions.

We measure before we declare
We publish real data on the consumption and impact of our solutions. If we cannot prove it with a verifiable number, we do not claim it. No claim of sustainability, efficiency or saving without concrete supporting evidence.

We choose the smallest tool that does the job
For every task we evaluate the lightest artificial intelligence model capable of guaranteeing the required quality. Using a model larger than necessary is not an advantage — it is a waste of computational resources and an unjustified cost for the client.

The human stays at the center
Our agents propose. The human decides. Every action that impacts people — creating tasks, sending communications, modifying sensitive data — requires an explicit approval before being executed. No Atenek system acts autonomously on decisions that concern people.

Client data is sacred
The data that clients entrust to us is never used to train third-party models, nor sold, nor exposed beyond the strict technical necessity of the project. For Swiss clients, nLPD data residency as standard — not as an option.

We say no when needed
We refuse projects that require manipulation, non-consensual surveillance or ethically compromised uses of artificial intelligence. The technical ability to do something is not a sufficient reason to do it.
Five lines we do not cross. Ever.
These are not limitations imposed from the outside. They are choices we made before we even started building. Every potential client knows them before signing any contract with Atenek.
- Deepfakes and voice clones in the absence of written consent from the legitimate rights holder.
- Dark patterns, psychological manipulation or opaque profiling of end users.
- Use of client data to train third-party models.
- Autonomous agentic procedures on decisions that directly impact people.
- Sustainability claims that we cannot prove with verifiable numbers.
Real sustainability, not declared
The AI sector has a serious problem with greenwashing. Many companies declare environmental commitments they cannot prove, use generic certifications to cover real consumption and build sustainability narratives that do not hold up to serious analysis.
Atenek has a different position, and it declares it openly.
We measure the real impact of the automations we build — hours saved, processes eliminated, documents not printed — and make it visible through the Sustainability module of AtenekOS. If a number is not verifiable, we do not publish it.
At the same time, we do not optimize for the planet at the expense of the client experience. Sustainability is earned through better technical choices — more efficient models, optimized infrastructure, processes that eliminate useless work — it is not imposed as a constraint that worsens the result.

AI does not replace people. It changes what they do.
Every automation Atenek builds eliminates repetitive work, not people. The distinction is concrete: a system that automatically processes hundreds of documents does not replace the accountant — it frees the accountant from the hours spent entering data by hand, so they can dedicate them to analysis and consulting.
This is not a rhetorical exercise. It is the metric with which we measure the success of every project: not how many people have been made redundant, but how many hours of high-value work have been made possible thanks to the automation of low-value work.
Companies that grow with Atenek do not have fewer people. They have people who do more important things.
